Christian McCaffrey Should Be Strong Candidate for MVP

It has been over a decade since a non-quarterback has been award the MVP trophy in the NFL. Running back Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings was the last skills position player to win, and it took Peterson coming up 8-yards shy of the all-time single season rushing record to do it.

Christian McCaffrey isn't on track to shatter that record, but has still been dominant through the first 15 weeks of this NFL season. He is the leading rusher with 1,292 yards on the ground this season, a league-best by over 300 yards, and is a top 70 receiver in the league by rushing yards.

When healthy, the 49ers are nearly unstoppable this season. Brandon and I both feel that the MVP this season should go to a skills position player, we gave our take earlier today on In The Zone. Click the podcast below to listen to the full segment.
